History and origin of valentine’s day
Valentine’s day may be referred to as a day of love, however, the reason which it is celebrated is to remember the martyr St. Valentine who was expected in the 3 BC during the Roman empire. The story is considered to be true by many people while some people just consider it a myth. The reason for this is that there were many people with the same name as St. valentine that was executed during the roman empire. That time, it was common for the killing of Christian people, and people in masses were killed by the Roman people. People don’t find any creditability in this statement and so they refuse to believe the story. However, those who believe in St. valentine, also have different opinions. In reality, two stories are circulated about the St. valentine that people believe. Let’s have a look at both of these stories.
The first stories say that the St. Valentine was a Roman priest and his full name was Valentines. He was adhering to the Christian belief and so he was caught by the king and put in jail. Inside the jail, he would continue his preaching and he came in contact with the guard of the jail. He said to him that he could cure the blindness of her daughter and demanded that if he was able to do so, then the jailer would have to convert to Christian. The jailor agreed to that, and the priest cured the blindness. Upon seeing the miracle, the jailor converted to Christian along with his whole family. When the king came to realize that people are turning into Christians, he ordered the killing of the priest and the guards who converted into Christian.
Another story says that St. Valentine was an Italian bishop who used to preach Christianity and its belief. He cured the problem of a person and seeing this miracle, the father of the person converted into Christianity. Seeing this many people also started to convert into Christianity, and emperor gothicus executed the bishop and the people who were converted into Christianity.
